Best Lessons in Life About Marriage

Feb 10th, 2008 by riza | 0

young coupleYesterday, my hubby and I attended a Marriage Enrichment Encounter organized by the Rotary Club International of Cagayan de Oro City - West or known as the mother club. Both Rotarian and Rotary Ann speakers, there were four speakers of different topics, did a great job in enriching us especially since they bravely share their struggles in life as married couple and how they were able to overcome every struggle they had.

What struck me the most was the sharing of one speaker who just had a death of a son through dengue. I really cried while she recounted how her son stayed in the ICU and doesn’t want to speak to his dad. She pointed out that all along she didn’t realize that upon conception, her child suffered already because she had issues of her own. After praying so hard asking for forgiveness and healing from God, her son finally looked for his dad and started talking to him. Father and son at last reconciled.

What I learned also is that material wealth should never be the focus of our daily struggles. Although we do our best to live a comfortable life,we need to focus on our relationship with our spouse and our children. What matters most in life is not what we have but who we have with us.

The MEE gave us an opportunity to count our blessings as a couple and to renew our love for each other. It made me appreciate my husband and what he did for the family to survive and live a comfortable life.
